Recommended Albums By White Lion Radio

today's recommended album on White Lion Radio is by the french female electronic duo Minuit Machine, a band we are very impressed with and liken them to an electronic version of Manchester band Joy Division.

Their debut album "Live & Destroy", which was released in October 2014, is a fine example of darkwave electronica with so many highlights and we recommend you listen to the tracks, "Love Is God", "Ego", "Comedown", "Midnight Love", "Ghost" and WLR's favourite track off the album "Sabotage".

Ignore this album at your peril!

For today's album recommendation, we stay in Sweden and wanted to bring to your attention the album "Resurrected" by Avantgarde. This was the bands third album release and came out in 2011 on the A Different Drum Label.

It's a very melodic synthpop album which makes for great listening and includes several synthetic gems and we recommend you listen to the tracks "Radioactive Feeling" (our favourite track on the album and one we have featured a few times on our shows), "In Your Clutches", "Memories", "Maureen", "December" and "Cabriolet"

A very upbeat album, which is sadly now out of print, however, the band have made it available as a FREE DOWNLOAD on their website.

Sweden is proving to be a hot bed for really impressive electronic bands, and one band that WLR rates as the best, where Synthpop is concerned are Eurotix, they are a duo and have released a number of fantastic EP's and in May last year they released their debut album "The Secret", which boasts a wealth of top class synthpop tunes from start to finish.

The album features 3 of their singles "I Plead Insanity", "Life As It Slips Away" and "Let's Die Young" all of which WLR highly recommend. In addition to those 3 gems, WLR also recommends listening to "After Before, Before After" (the best synth ballad since Soft Cell's "Say Hello Wave Goodbye"), "The European Man", "Don't Let Go" and the title track "The Secret".

A glorious album definitely worth checking out, especially if you love catchy synthpop songs!

Today White Lion Radio recommends the album "The Satellites Of Substance" by Jonteknik who is from Brighton, here in the UK.

Jon Russell the man behind Jonteknik has been releasing material for a number of years and is someone we have been following closely since his early releases.

Jon's music is heavily influenced by Kraftwerk and we think his finest work to date is the 2014 album "The Satellites Of Substance" as it really does sound like an album the godfathers of electronic music could have recorded.

The album includes the wonderful single "People At An Exhibition" (A track WLR as one of Jon's best ever tracks) as well as some really good electronic gems and we recommend you listen to "Broadcast", "Relay", "The Stars Are Not Alone", "Forever Lasts Longest", the title track "The Satellites Of Substance" and the beautiful "Music Machine".
It's a stunning album that is well worth checking out.

Today we have chosen an album by German band Minerve, which is called "Please". The album was released in 2010, and is their 3rd album release and easily their strongest.

The best way to describe this album is "Powerful Synthpop". The album includes 2 singles, the brilliant "Hold Me Tight" and "You Don't Know Me" and is a quality album from beginning to end. Along with the singles WLR recommends listening too, "Everyday" (WLR's favourite Minerve track), "Don't Ask Me Why", the title track "Please" and "Save Me".

Todays recommended album, is by American Synthpop band Cosmicity, who have been a well respected band on the electronic music scene for 20 years.

Mark Nicholas the man behind Cosmicity has consistantly delivered quality albums but we have chosen the album "In Perspective", which was released in 1998, it represents Cosmicity's best tracks from the period 1994 to 1996, for WLR, one of his most productive and best periods.

It's an album of so many highlights, including WLR's favourite Cosmicity track "Keep Me In Mind", along with that, the recommended listens are, "Awake", "Egypt", "Maybe", "The Moment" and "Tragedy". A solid album and the perfect introduction to the music of Cosmicity.

Today's recommended album is by Belgian Electronic duo Metroland.

We have given a lot of exposure to their new album "Triadic Ballet" but WLR think you should check out their stunning debut album which was released in 2012. It's called "Mind The Gap" and if you are a fan of Kraftwerk, then you won't be disappointed with this album, which uses the worlds Underground Railway Network as it's concept.

The album includes the excellent single "The Passenger" as well as a host of other fantastic tracks and WLR recommends you listen to "Enjoying The View" (One of our top 3 Metroland tracks), "Inner City Transport", "Travelling", "Harry Beck", "It's More Fun To Commute" and the title track "Mind The Gap". To be honest this is another one of those albums that is flawless from beginning to end.

A lot of you will know I have been a big follower of the independent music scene for a number of years and have released countless shows that have showcased electronic & Synthpop music by bands that people wouldn't have come across, so I thought it would be a good idea to share with you some of the very best albums I have come across in no particular order, each day, over the next 4 weeks.

So to start us off is the brilliant debut album by Machinista called "Xenoglossy", this album packs a synthetic punch from start to finish and includes a superb cover of the David Bowie track "Heroes". The album also includes the single "Arizona Lights" but their are so many other highlights and we recommend the tracks "Molecules & Carbon", "Salvation", "Pushing The Angels Astray" and "The Blues And The Reds".

The album is available from the Official Machinista Website via the link below:

New Eurotix EP Reviewed

Swedish Synthpop duo Eurotix return with a brand new 4 track EP on May 30th called "Kiss Them For Me" as a taster for their second album due out in summer/autumn.

The lead and title track is another fine example of how to produce synthpop, it's catchy and melodic and is about the relationship between Prince Charles and Lady Diana. "I Don't Hate You Anymore" is a fantastic synthpop track with a hint of an electro feel about it. I always believe you know how good a band is by the standard of their B Sides and this band deliver every time, I rate this track as one of their very best B Sides.

"Computer Dating" is a clever track, the title is so perfect as the vocal elements are done using synthetic speech, a track that shows diversity.

And so we come to the final track of the EP "Un Chanson Pour L'Eurovision". This is a superb track, perfect pop, with glamour, glitz and razzamataz, which are all the ingredients for a Eurovision song, the best comment I can say about this track, is that, if this was Sweden's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest the rest needn't turn up, it would win hands down it is that good. Too good for a B side, it's brilliant!

Time after time this band produce quality releases and deserve a bigger and better stage, they clearly feed off each other for inspiration and are a perfect combination for their brand of synthpop.

This is an EP you should invest in 10/10

We will be playing tracks from the EP on this months i-Select show out on May 25th.

More info soon on where you can obtain the EP to follow.....In the meantime WLR invite you to listen to a special show we put together last year to showcase the very best tracks of Eurotix, you won't be disappointed.
