Put The Needle On The Record - Week #32

Put The Needle On The Record Week #32 ELO - Discovery

For this weeks feature we go back to June 1979 and the Electric Light Orchestra album "Discovery".

"Discovery" was the 8th studio album released by ELO and for me their best album and a masterpiece. Quite a few of my friends at school were into ELO, I liked some of their music and enjoyed the album "Out Of The Blue", however, for me this is the definitive ELO album, with every track being outstanding, as ever, I am listening to the album whilst writing this feature!

The album featured 4 singles, "Shine A Little Love" (which reached number 6 on the UK Singles chart and number 8 on the Billboard 100), "The Diary of Horace Wimp" (which reached number 8 in the UK Singles chart), "Don't Bring Me Down", their best ever track for me (which reached number 3 in the UK Singles chart and number 4 on the Billboard 100), and the double A side "Confusion" and "Last Train To London" (which reached number 8 in the UK Singles chart and number 37 on the Billboard 100).

The album also reached number 1 in the UK Album Chart, and number 5 on the Billboard 100 album chart.
