Put The Needle On The Record - Week #31

Put The Needle On The Record Week #31 Heaven 17 - The Luxury Gap

For this weeks feature we go back to April 1983 and the Heaven 17 album "The Luxury Gap".

"The Luxury Gap" was the second album released by Heaven 17 and is their biggest selling album and rightly so, it is an outstanding album. It was quite a departure from their debut album "Penthouse And Pavement" as it contained fabulous orchestration and lush sound, superbly produced by the band. Undoubtably one of the key albums from the 1980s, it is an album I still play a lot to this day. If ever an album was made for a dolby atmos makeover, this is it!

5 singles were released off the album, "Let Me Go", my favourite Heaven 17 song, (which reached number 41 in the UK Singles Chart - Deserved to be a top 10 hit at least!), "Temptation" (which reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart), "We Live So Fast" (which was only released in the United States), "Come Live With Me" (which reached number 5 in the UK Singles Chart) and "Crushed By The Wheels Of Industry", the one track on the album I don't like, a mystery how it was chosen as a single! (which reached number 17 in the UK Singles Chart).

Track Listing

Crushed By The Wheels Of Industry
Who'll Stop The Rain
Let Me Go

So if you have the album in your collection and have n't played it in a while, dig it out and give it a spin!
